With sinker up, Wang's outing is down Friday, March 07, 2008 BY ED PRICE Star-Ledger Staff SARASOTA, Fla. -- Chien-Ming Wang promises he can fix what went wrong yesterday. Wang didn't make it out of the first inning for the Yankees, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning against the Cincinnati Reds. "The ball was not moving," he said. "It stayed (up)." Wang said he was trying to throw too hard and as a result was overstriding. That prevented him from getting his hand on top of the ball and getting his usual sink. "He was up," manager Joe Girardi said. "His sinker was up. His slider was flat. He was in bad counts and they were aggressive and they weren't missing." The first five batters he faced reached base, and one of his outs was a hard-hit deep sacrifice fly to right. Wang came out after 32 pitches (19 for strikes) and threw another dozen or so in the bullpen to build up arm strength. The presumed Opening Day starter, Wang said he was only "a little bit" upset about the rough outing. "We have a lot of time to get it right," Girardi said. "You're not happy about it, but you understand it's going to happen." http://tinyurl.com/3yuoja -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.109.23.103
