Prior to Game One of this three-game set with the Yankees, manager Terry Francona was asked if he was worried about the rookie facing a team like New York. “No, I don’t think so,” said the manager. “I’m excited to see him pitch because he has never done this before. I’m sure he’ll be excited. I’m hoping he’ll use it to his advantage. This is a first and he’ll have to live through it. We can tell him whatever we want, but he’s going to have to live through it. I’m hoping he throws strikes and uses the adrenaline to his advantage.” Buchholz answered.
