Wang disappointed to watch from the sidelines ? By Mark Feinsand The last time the Yankees were in the playoffs, Chien-Ming Wang was their Game 1 starter. His postseason turned into a disaster with a terrible series-opener and a horrendous Game 4 on short rest, but the two-time 19-game winner won’t have a chance to make amends this year. After a miserable start to his 2009 season, Wang went on to have shoulder surgery in late-July, knocking him out of action for the rest of this year and the first half of 2010. Wang was in the dugout for Game 1, cheering on his teammates in their win over the Twins. He was cheered by the Yankee Stadium crowd during pregame introductions, as they put his dismal 2009 behind them and recognized what he had contributed to the Yankees from 2005-08. “It’s weird and it’s disappointing; I hate to watch from the dugout,” Wang said through an interpreter. “I just wish I could pitch, I just want to be a part of the team.” But will he have a chance to contribute in 2010? The Yankees are near-certain to non-tender him in December, and unless he’s willing to take a minor-league kind of deal, it’s unlikely that he’ll be back in pinstripes. Wang said he expects to be able to do light throwing in another two or three months, though he won’t be back pitching in games until next spring. “It was good to hear the fans cheering, and hopefully I’ll be here next year,” Wang said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, we’ll wait and see. I can’t worry about it. Right now I’m just focusing on rehab and getting healthy.” http://tinyurl.com/yfxt35r -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.109.23.38 ※ 編輯: yyhong68 來自: 140.109.23.38 (10/09 10:38)
