Nicole Vaidisova has ended the hopes of golden girl Alicia Molik in straight
sets on Rod Laver Arena, 6-2 6-3.
The No.12 seed was untroubled on serve throughout the match, Molik failing to
earn a break point on serve whilst surrendering her own serve three times.
Vaidisova was solid from the back of the court, and raced to an early 3-0 lead.
In contrast, the Australian committed 13 unforced errors for the set, and
struggled to make an impact on the longer rallies.
The 18-year-old Czech broke Molik again to claim the set 6-2.
The second set started a bit tighter, with Molik using slice on her backhand
wing and mixing her shots up.
However the Australian - a quarter finalist at the Australian Open in 2005 -
conceded the break when down 4-3, leaving Vaidisova to serve out the set 6-3.
