Monaco officially appoint Guidolin

Monaco have confirmed the appointment of Italian Francesco Guidolin
as Coach following the resignation of Didier Deschamps last month.
A statement on the Monaco website revealed that
Guidolin has signed a contract tying him to the principality club
until the end of the 2006-07 season.
“I am really very happy,” Guidolin told Datasport.
“Monaco are an important club on the international stage and
I want to do well here. I have a real desire to prove myself in France.
This is a new and stimulating adventure.”
Monaco have been drawn in a UEFA Cup Group with Slavia Prague,
Hamburg, CSKA Sofia and Viking.

Guidolin has coached several Serie A sides including
Vicenza, Bologna, Udinese and Palermo, whom he qualified for
European competition for the first time in the club's history.
The Italian tactician was a free agent after quitting Genoa
when the club was relegated to Serie C1 in a match fixing scandal.
Guidolin won't be the only Serie A link in the Principality,
as he'll join ex-Lecce star Ernesto Javier Chevanton, former Juventus
midfielder Olivier Kapo and Italian international goalkeeper Flavio Roma.
Monaco will officially unveil their new Coach to the public on Thursday.
