Fabio Cannavaro and Gigi Buffon hailed their teammates and
claim the side is getting stronger all the time going into
the semi-final with Germany.
“We've come this far and believe in our abilities,
so we can certainly dream of reaching the Final,” said the captain.
“Every member of this squad has contributed and proved themselves,
so now that Alessandro Nesta and Marco Materazzi will return to the fold,
we'll be stronger than ever.”
Cannavaro說：「我們都走到這了也相信自己的能力，
所以我們當然夢想著打進決賽，陣中每位成員都有所貢獻也證明了自己，
現在 Nesta、Materazzi又歸隊，我們比以往更強大了。」
The Azzurri have dealt with a succession of injuries and bans,
but third-choice centre-back Andrea Barzagli played very well
in the 3-0 quarter-final win over the Ukraine.
“It all becomes easier at the back when the whole team keeps working hard.
Barzagli is a youngster of real quality and we all just told him to relax.
He hasn't had too many opportunities to shine for Italy yet,
but he is the future of this side.”
「當全隊都一起努力時對後防來說就輕鬆多了，
Bazargli是有資質的年輕球員，我們都只有跟他說要放鬆，
他還沒有太多為義大利表現的機會，不過他會是球隊的未來。」
Juventus captain Cannavaro was the instigator
behind the flag all the Azzurri waved at the final whistle
in dedication to Gianluca Pessotto,
who is in hospital after an apparent suicide attempt.
“It was my idea for the flag because he's fighting for his life now
and we all feel very close to his family at this time.
He's stronger than he thinks and can win this battle.”
談到賽末揮舞國旗祝福 Pessotto，Cannavaro說：
「那個國旗的點子是我想的，因為他正在為自己的生命努力奮戰，
我們在這段時間都跟他的家人非常親近。」
There were some nervous moments at the back,
but Buffon performed some crucial saves during the 20-minute spell
at the start of the second half.
“It's interesting to note we've only conceded one goal.
My teammates have done a great job, but we were also a little lucky
in this game,” said the goalkeeper. “Barzagli's performance and
Massimo Oddo's World Cup debut shows the unity in this side.”
Buffon說：「我們只被進了一球，這蠻有意思的，
我的隊友們做得很好，不過在這場比賽中我們當然也有一點好運，
Barzagli的表現與 Oddo的世界盃初登場展現了球隊的團結。」
The Juventus star risked injury when he bravely got down
to turn a header out, hitting his head on the upright in the process.
“My best saves of the tournament have been on Pavel Nedved
in the Czech match and today I needed to be brave and concentrated.
My head is slightly swollen, but thankfully it's hidden under the hair!”
被問及撲救撞到頭的事，Buffon說：
「我在這次決賽圈最出色的撲救還是對捷克時擋下 Nedved的那幾腳，
今天我只是需要勇敢與專注，我的頭有點腫，不過還好！可以用頭髮遮住！」
