Title holders Inter will begin the 2006-07 Serie A campaign
at Fiorentina, while Milan-Lazio also kicks off the season
on September 10.
The Stadio Artemio Franchi clash will be brought forward
to Saturday September 9 due to Champions League commitments.
It's set to be a blistering start, as the Scudetto showdown
between favourites Inter and Roma will be played in Week 3
at the Olimpico. It’s one of the midweek rounds and will be
played on Wednesday September 20.
After the season was delayed due to the Calciopoli scandal and
its legal ramifications, the Serie A and B calendars were finally
drawn up in Rome this evening.
Fiorentina (17), Reggina (15), Lazio (11) and Milan (8) all start
with a points penalty due to the scandal, while Juventus are
in Serie B for the first time in their history.
Roma chief Rossella Sensi was elected Vice-President of
the Lega Calcio this evening before the button was pressed
to begin the fixture process. “I am very excited and happy
to have this position. It’s important to remain united and
give credibility back to the sport for its fans.”
