Siena appoint new President

Siena are under new ownership and have named Pier Luigi Fabrizi
as their President, but it's reported Roman Abramovich rejected
the chance to buy out Bari.
The Tuscan side was taken into Serie A for the first time
in its history under the guidance of President Paolo De Luca,
but the businessman decided to sell his shares.
A local conglomerate has bought out the Stadio Artemio Franchi club
and one of the figures, ex-Banca Monte dei Paschi chief Fabrizi,
has been appointed to the role of President.
He is currently in charge of the Cartasi credit card holding company
and has been a lifelong fan of Siena. It is reported that news of
the nomination has been greeted with enthusiasm in the city.
Meanwhile, Serie B outfit Bari are up for sale following a bitter split
between the Matarrese family and the local fans.
It is rumoured in today's Italian Press that they offered the club –
which once had David Platt in its squad – to Chelsea patron Abramovich.
However, the Russian magnate rejected the proposal,
considering the price tag of ￡7m to be too steep.
