Fiorentina won their first match of the new Serie A season with a solid
performance against Palermo that saw them emerge victors by a 1-0 scoreline.

A first-half goal from Stevan Jovetic was all it took for the Viola to
claim the three points, and the newly signed Marco Marchionni believes
it was a crucial victory.

“We were really put to the test tonight, but we stood tall and won the
match,” Marchionni explained to Firenzeviola.it.

The former Juventus man concluded the interview with a brief comment in
regards to his recent selection in Marcello Lippi’s Italy squad for
the nation’s two upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

He added, “I am happy to have achieved this in a month with Fiorentina,
after failing to do so for several years at Juventus.”
