Giuseppe Rossi hit a hat-trick in a match against the Empoli youth side on
Sunday evening as Italy coach Marcello Lippi tested a number of different
options, according to La Repubblica.

The match ended 6-0 in favour of the world champions, with the Villarreal
striker showing plenty of spark. Meanwhile, Alberto Gilardino, who scored
Italy's 90th minute equaliser against Ireland, notched a brace and Fabio
Quagliarella was also on target.

The Azzurri boss will rest a number of his key players for the match against
Cyprus on Wednesday, as qualification to the World Cup has already been
assured.

3-4-3 formation that had Fabio Cannavaro, Salvatore Bocchetti and Alessandro
