David Eckstein: Completed nine-game home stand 15 for 35 and remains the
team's only player to make every start. He entered the weekend leading the
league in hits.
El Hombre: Sports Illustrated cover boy suffered a tough week, including
an 0-for-12 stretch. Fouled a ball off his shin before wiping out on
rain-slick on-deck circle Tuesday. Got healthy against the Royals
with HRs both Friday and Saturday.
Home cooking: The Cards have won all eight home series since moving across
the street and are 18-7 at home, the best record in either league.
Izzy: Jason Isringhausen's bases-loaded save against the Mets on Wednesday
should douse the pitchforks-and-bonfire crowd for a while. Had converted
nine of last 10 save chances entering interleague action. Brad Lidge, anyone?
