The Cardinals have until Saturday to pick up Edmonds' option
or pay him a 3 million buyout. If the team declines the option,
Edmonds will become a free agent.

The Cardinals lack an internal alternative to Edmonds. The
free-agent market for center fielders is thin beyond Gary
Matthews Jr. and Juan Pierre and trade options are limited.
Once the Cardinals resolve Edmonds' future, they can address
second base and, more importantly, their starting rotation.
看來明年還是可以在中外野看到Jimmy 飛撲的美技了 :)
