[情報] Wainwright's bullpen session a success
ATLANTA -- Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright threw 25 breaking pitches
during a light bullpen session at Turner Field on Thursday, a significant
step given the nature of his injury.
Wainwright, sidelined since June 8 with a sprained right middle finger, will
throw his full assortment of pitches during another bullpen session on
Saturday before tossing a simulated game at Busch Stadium on Tuesday.
"It was much better," said Wainwright, who did not wear protective tape
around his middle knuckle for the first time since the injury. "The spin on
the ball was more true and more controllable."
Wainwright threw 20 curveballs and five sliders on Thursday. He said he has
not yet "snapped" a sharp curveball, which would put the most strain on his
finger. But he will pass that last test on Saturday, when he plans to throw a
"game-like" bullpen session.
"I'm getting close, man," he said. "I'm a few steps away. I'm not far at
all."
The 26-year-old was certainly more optimistic after Thursday's session than
he has been recently. After tossing 65 pitches on Tuesday, Wainwright said he
wasn't pleased with his command and needed a few more sessions until he was
ready to face hitters.
Wainwright is 6-3 with a 3.14 ERA in 13 starts this season. He hasn't pitched
since June 7, when he allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings against
the Astros.
看來Wainwright對自己的控球還不太滿意,覺得需要多一點時間回復
希望他能早點回來囉~
