Teams farther above the dotted league-average line have received more WAR from pitchers than would be expected from their overall WAR total; they could conceivably use a bat to offset how pitcher-reliant they are. Conversely, teams below the dotted line have more WAR from position players than we’d expect from their overall WAR and would theoretically target pitchers at the deadline. 在代表聯盟平均的斜直線上方的隊伍，投手貢獻的WAR值佔整隊較高的比例，可想而知的他們需要透過補進棒子來平衡對投手的依賴。相反的，在斜直線下方的球隊，其野手貢獻的WAR比較多，因此理論上在交易大限前要瞄準投手來補強。 Some of the moves already made make sense within this context. Each of the top three available pitchers on the trade block — David Price, Cole Hamels and Johnny Cueto — went to teams that were hitter-heavy according to WAR this season.
