Rivers was coy about who would take Walker's place, narrowing
it to Kendrick Perkins or rookie Al Jefferson. An hour before
the game, Rivers claimed he had still not decided, but that
the options were Perkins or rookie Delonte West. Rivers joked
that white smoke would filter out of the locker room when he
figured out what he wanted to do.

Well, there was no white smoke, but word came 30 minutes before
tipoff that the Celtics would start Perkins and Ricky Davis. But
when the lineups were announced, it was West who heard his name
called, along with Davis.
"I didn't find out I was in the starting lineup until about five
mintues before tipoff," said West, who had 14 points in 12 minutes.
"Coaches have their strategies."
