" Yes 72.4% " NO 27.6% " Total votes: 134 This is not an official rumour but I would like to start one and campaign for the Boston Celtics to get Larry Hughes. Yes, the trading deadline is over and he is officially the property of the Sacramento Kings; however, NBATV reported that the Kings are in the process of buying out h. is contract. Everyone knows about his messy divorce with Lebron. Larry Hughes was Danny Ferry's first attempt to get Lebron James a legitimate two-man. Hughes is not a spot-up shooter and did not relish the fact that he had to stand on the perimeter waiting for his shots. At 6'5", Hughes is a poor mans Scottie Pippen-like player. He gives you defense , offense and another body that can create his own shot. He is not a selfish player by any means; he is a willing passer and can explode for 20 points at any given time. Mike D'Antoni's run-and-gun style was not a good fit for his talents and the Sacramento Kings have no real need for him on their roster. The other contending teams do not have a need for him and at this stage of his career, I am sure he would accept the veteran's minimum to play for a championship. Larry Hughes could play a significant but minor role if the Celtics meet the Hawks in the playoffs. It is no secret that Jamal Crawford has been the "new age" Andrew Toney. For those of you who don't remember who Toney was just Google "Celtics killer" and Toney's name will most likely appear. In the Philadelphia 76'ers heyday, Toney would provide the necessary spark off the bench and hit shot after shot to thwart the Celtics attempt at victory. Larry Hughes' length and defensive ability could slow down this new millineum's "Celtic killer", thereby giving the Celtics a better opportunity to win. It is no secret that Doc Rivers loves a small lineup and with this added flexibility he can add another productive piece to his bench.
