There always seems to be injury drama at Celtics practice and
Sunday was no different. Kevin Garnett went through his first
full practice since straining his right calf and made it through
healthy.
Coach Doc Rivers said barring any setbacks or pain tomorrow, he
should play in Monday's showdown against the Orlando Magic, his
first game since Dec. 29.
"He was great," Rivers said. "He went through the whole practice.
I think Kevin will go tomorrow. But then again we went through
practice to see if he could go tomorrow. If he feels good, he'll go.
If there's anything (wrong), he won't."
However, Shaquille O'Neal sat out practice with a strained right
abductor muscle (leg) and is questionable. O'Neal apparantly slipped
on some ice before practice and didn't participate.
Meanwhile, swingman Marquis Daniels strained his lower back taking a
clean but hard pick from Kendrick Perkins, who also participated in
practice. Daniels sat out the rest of practice as a precautionary
measure but said he will play against Orlando.
Perkins also added that he is targeting a Feb. 3 return after almost
completely recovering from right ACL surgery. He said he wants to make
his comeback at TD Garden and he isn't mentally or physically favoring
the knee.
