Ranieri left Stamford Bridge after talks with Abramovich and chief executive Peter Kenyon, and is believed to be returning to Italy. The manager's future is no clearer, however, with no statement yet from Chelsea on what was discussed. Ranieri described himself as a "dead man walking" this season amid rampant speculation tipping him for the sack. Porto coach Jose Mourinho is favourite to succeed Ranieri if he is fired , though Monaco's Didier Deschamps is also believed to be a candidate. Those two managers meet in the Champions League final on Wednesday, and both have refused to comment on their future ahead of that match. Ranieri admitted he said goodbye to his players following the 1-0 win over Leeds on final day of the season, as he did not know whether he would be back for the start of the new campaign. The Italian has said he is keen to find another Premiership club if Chelsea sack him. He said: "I hope to come back, I work very well in England.
