Chelsea may have landed Michael Essien and Asier del Horno this summer but it is the names they have failed to lure who have also dominated the headlines. Andriy Shevchenko, Adriano, Samuel Eto'o, Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and David Trezeguet have all rejected the prospect of a move to the billionaire-funded London outfit. Proof that money cannot buy everything, Chelsea will be hoping Arnesen, who is widely regarded as having one of the best contacts books in the business, can add the je ne sais quoi some would argue they are missing. Chelsea have an array of stars but, arguably, none in the same world- class category as Ronaldinho at Barcelona, Shevchenko at AC Milan or Real Madrid's galacticos in Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Ronaldo. In the Premiership, Arsenal have Thierry Henry while Manchester United have the X-factor with Wayne Rooney. Chelsea have the die-hard spirit of John Terry and, with Frank Lampard and Arjen Robben, players who have the ability to raise their worth depending on their showing at the 2006 World Cup. Striker Hernan Crespo is a renowned name on the world stage, but his desire to turn his season-long move to AC Milan into a permanent switch rather than return to Chelsea only added to the notion that Stamford Bridge is far from every player's dream destination. Arnesen complained he could not attract big names in his same role at Tottenham and that he was always behind Arsenal and Chelsea in the queue to sign players. He will have no such problem at Chelsea and, while a major priority for him will also be to land tomorrow's stars, Arnesen will be under pressure to deliver for the Blues. Any concerns about stepping on the toes of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho have been quashed by the charismatic Portuguese boss who is looking forward to linking up with Arnesen. And the partnership between the two could be a defining one for the club with Mourinho setting out a blueprint to make the club a world power in five years. "He will improve the club in general terms," said Jose Mourinho. "In relation to my job, it will be the same. But, of course, I will have in him a person with a lot of experience in his area and someone I will be looking for when I need some advice or information."
