Jose calls for coaching reforms
By Chris Stanton - Created on 9 Oct 2005
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes the coaching methods of international
managers have left many of The Premiership's star-turns sidelined with injury.
The Blues' Claude Makelele and Asier Del Horno recently returned from
international duty carrying knocks and Mourinho has called for a more flexible
approach to training from the likes of Frenchman, Raymond Domenech.
"National teams are a drama for club coaches," Mourinho explained.
"I'm not saying they work badly but they work in a different way and that's
why players suffer these injuries.
"Makelele came back here injured and it seems the same happened with the likes
of other French players Lilian Thuram, Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry after
they played the Republic of Ireland.
"Del Horno had two training sessions and arrived back with a muscle tear, as
did Albert Luque at Newcastle."
The unabashedly opinionated Portuguese has also hinted at the approach he will
take once he moves into the international sphere of management.
"Very often after international matches teams with a lot of players on duty
don't play well because of injuries," added Mourinho.
"I promise that when I eventually move on and coach a national team, I will
analyse the methods used at the players' clubs and will try to adjust the
training to their needs."
老大以法國國家隊為例,打完愛爾蘭之後就出現三名傷兵;德爾奧諾也有此情況。
所以國家隊的訓練方式應該更有彈性,以減少傷兵。
