Against Huddersfield, England Under 21 striker Cole played his first full game for Chelsea since April 2003. That is pre-Roman Abramovich buying the club. His 12th minute goal was his eighth in 6+20 appearances. On Cole's most recent performance, Mourinho told Chelsea TV: “Until the 70th minute when he started to get a little heavy-legged, he fought, he held the ball and he scored a goal. I am happy with him, especially now without Drogba. It is good to know we have in him another option.” Didier Drogba has now departed to join up with Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations. The tournament runs from January 20th to February 10th. In his absence, the central striker role is likely to be filled by either Cole, Eidur Gudjohnsen or Hernan Crespo who missed the weekend game as he recovered from a tight hamstring. Cole said himself of his long-awaited 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge: “I have been confident in training and I wanted to get my first goal in the first-half.
