Former France captain and World Cup winner Marcel Desailly has called time
on his playing career at the age of 37.

Desailly has not had a club since November 2005 but had never previously
said he was definitely hanging up the boots on a permanent basis. This
does, though, now appear to the case after Desailly spoke on French TV
station Canal Plus, before adding "I'm going to continue my work in
football."

The former Chelsea and Milan favourite enjoyed an illustrious career that
saw him scoop a plethora of honours, that include winners' medals from the
1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship. Desailly also holds the
record for French caps at 116, while domesticallyhe won the European Cup
with both Marseille and Milan.
