Chelsea's new partnership with adidas was celebrated in style on Monday
night in Los Angeles at a reception attended by Tony Blair.

The Skybar on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood played host to a list of
guests so eclectic it ranged from the prime minister to rap star Snoop
Dogg to Wimbledon tennis champions to a Sex Pistol.

Tony Blair, in town for discussions with the state governor of California,
Arnold Schwarzenegger, attended to show his support for Premier League
football abroad.

The prime minister talked to Chelsea's England World Cup participants
John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole. England's Germany exit and the
pressure of taking penalties was the main topic of discussion.

Venus and Serena Williams also chatted with the players beside a rooftop
swimming pool; the highlight of Serena's evening was undoubtedly when
Chelsea team masseur Billy McCulloch danced with her — or more accurately
danced at her.

All Chelsea players and staff were present and representing the music
world were ex-Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, now an LA resident, and
the band The Killers. Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, hairdresser Vidal
Sassoon (a lifelong Chelsea fan), Joshua Jackson from TV programme
Dawson's Creek and Rick Fox, captain of the LA Lakers basketball team,
boosted the numbers.

All players, excluding a few who had returned to the hotel a little
earlier, were coached away before the 2am curfew. All were required for
training as usual Tuesday morning.

Chelsea Football Club hosted a reception last night in Los Angeles to
celebrate the start of our relationship with adidas. Among the guests who
attended was the British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

A Chelsea FC statement said: "Chelsea greatly appreciates that the Prime
Minister accepted our invitation to the reception and took time out in his
