Chelsea defeated the current FA Youth Cup holders in the first game of
this season's FA Academy Under 18s League on Saturday. A goal from Scott
Sinclair on the hour won it, but it was the overall performance which
delighted manager Ruud Kaiser.

“We really deserved a big win, 1-0 was not enough when you look to how we
played and how we created opportunities to score. The defence was never in
danger, never had problems.”

The goal came after half an hour, an exceptional diagonal ball from
right-winger Miroslav Stoch to left-winger Scott Sinclair who went outside
his man, cut inside and shot inside the far post.

In the second-half, Liam Bridcutt hit the outside of a post with a header,
and two other efforts were cleared off the line. Sinclair also just missed
the target when one on one with the goalkeeper.

The only negative side of the performance for Ruud was the lack of goals.
“We couldn't finish it off because we didn't take our chances. And we
played five minutes of added time, and in that a deflected shot was well
saved by Rhys Taylor, or else we would have had to come away with a draw.”
凱薩不太滿意進攻把握度，補時時還好我方門將泰勒撲出一球，不然只有平局。
But he felt the all-round team display was of the highest merit.
不過整體表現還是很優的。
“I wanted to play pressure at the right moments. In the preparation it
didn't always work out. We didn't do it at the right moments, or not all
together because one or two didn't do it, but here they got it right,
especially in the first-half.
在練習的時候不夠好，但正式比賽時反而做到了，尤其是上半場。
“And when we got the ball we played in the first-half really well, good
football. Jack Cork, Sam Hutchinson and Ryan Bertrand were really strong
and good in finding Scott Sinclair and Shaun Cummings.
“We got our wingers in. The goal was a good example. We got Miroslav in,
Shaun made a good run which took out a defender, Miroslav hit a terrific
ball to Scott Sinclair, one wing to the other, and he was one-on-one with
the defender, went past him and scored. Great goal.
那個進球實在很棒，孔明牽引對方後衛，斯托奇妙傳，辛克萊爾過人怒射。
“Liverpool played 4-5-1 and they tried to press also, but we were
patient, the defenders passed to the midfielders, they brought the
full-backs in, and we handled it well. We kept possession.”
利物浦的451拿我們沒辦法。
Chelsea, unlike Liverpool, received no yellow cards.
The youth team's second game is at home to Sheffield Wednesday next
Saturday, August 26th, kick-off 11am at Cobham.
