http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=415351 Chelsea Youth 2 Cardiff City Youth 1 Monday, Sep 11, 2006 Chelsea's youth team conceded its first goal of the season on Saturday morning in its fourth game, but made it four wins out of four so far. 雖然失掉了賽季的第一球,但艾爾默和薩哈爾先後破門,青年軍四連勝。 This was some result in terms of depth of squad. Missing were: defenders Sam Hutchinson, Jack Cork and Ryan Bertrand, midfielder Michael Woods, and forwards Fabio Ferreira, Ben Sahar (those two were on the bench) and Scott Sinclair, all of whom are involved in today's reserve match. In addition there was no Rhys Taylor in goal as James Russell is having two games to prove his worth, and Tom Taiwo is still injured. To add further injury to the equation, Ricardo Fernandes limped away with a bruised hip in the first five minutes requiring a substitution and reshuffle, and Lee Sawyer was sent off six minutes from the end of normal time. Jonas Elmer scored his first goal in Chelsea colours and Sahar came off the bench to score his third in his last three youth games. Fernandes, who has been in good form this season, suffered bruising on his hip after an early collision and was replaced by Sam Hurrell who went to left-back with Elmer advancing into midfield. It was from midfield that Elmer scored the first goal. Coach Ruud Kaiser says: “It was a great pass from Sergio Tejera with the outside of his left foot, and Jonas made a good run in behind the defence and went on to score past the goalkeeper. In the first half-hour we were the better team, we had some good chances but only scored one. We had a number of opportunities to make it 2-0 but didn't.” Just before the hour came the best chance to double the lead but Tomi Saarelma drove wide of an open goal. Two minutes later a small, fast Cardiff substitute burst on to a ball over the top and scored with his first touch. It was Cardiff's first chance of the second-half. “We had to fight to go on,” says Ruud, “get our heads up. I put on Ben Sahar because we needed him. He started on the right with Miroslav Stoch on the left, but we weren't winning, so with a quarter of an hour to go I put Ben as striker, Shaun Cummings on the right and Miroslav on the left. Two minutes later we scored. “Miroslav did a great dribble but lost the ball, but there was great pressure from him, Ben and Sergio, and Sergio blocked the clearance which went to Ben and he scored easily. Afterwards we controlled the game.” Sawyer had already been booked and Ruud was trying to substitute him when he got in a fight and received a straight red card. With Fernandes' injury and other stoppages the first-half had lasted 51 minutes — six minutes stoppage time. Now the second-half had nine minutes stoppage time, so the team had to play 15 minutes with ten men. Ruud is determined that lessons be learned from the game. “We have to score the second goal earlier when we are playing like that. Every team will get a chance in a game, and sometimes like Cardiff they will score. But I was very pleased with the way we kept going. It showed good character.” Team (4-2-1-3) Russell Ofori-Twamasi Worley Bridcutt (c) Elmer Fernandes (Hurrell 5) Sawyer (sent off 84) Tejera Stoch Cummings Saarelma (Sahar 60) CHELSEA YOUTH ON RECORD Appearances 4 ============= Bridcutt 4, Fernandes 4, Stoch 4, Tejera 3+1, Cork 3, Worley 3, Sahar 2+2, Sawyer 2+2, Bertrand 2+1, Cummings 2, F Ferreira 2, Hutchinson 2, Ofori-Twamasi 2, Russell 2, Taylor 2, Hurrell 1+1, Saarelma 1+1, Elmer 1, Sinclair 1, Woods 1, Nielsen 0+2.
