Two more were released following a 2-0 win over Team America, the goals coming from striker, Moses Ademola, and full-back, Dan Mitton. After the game Neil Bath, Football Icon's chief judge, praised the Icon boys for their performance, which he said made the judges' decision even harder. ‘They're making it really difficult for us. Now it's a case of just picking out individuals, which is quite tough.’ Joining Neil Bath on the judging panel were Eddie Newton, the former Chelsea midfielder, and Jamie Redknapp, ex-Liverpool and England. He's also Frank Lampard's cousin. After lengthy deliberations it was decided to release striker Dalton O'Brien and midfielder Jeremy Karikari. Two other players also featured in the judges' discussions for possible elimination - midfielder David Palmer and central defender Jordan Street. At the Football Icon Mansion, the 'captain's privilege' enjoyed by Stuart Gates and two of his mates was a backstage meeting with The Sugababes. Every week during the series, the captain is given a surprise treat intended to give the young hopefuls a taste of the lifestyle enjoyed by the top professionals. There were some murmurings among the boys about whether Stuart deserved the captaincy after being out injured for some weeks. The new captain appointed by Eddie Newton at the end of the programme was left-back Tom Bird, a lifelong Chelsea fan. In the next episode of Football Icon 2, there are the first indications of how the pressure is getting to the boys when two of them show signs of falling-out. And, the big game of the week pits the Icon boys against the Chelsea youth team, a side packed with young internationals. At the end of the programme, which is being shown on Sky One every Friday, two more players will be released by Neil Bath and his judging team. The winner of the competition will be announced in December. Football Icon 2 is on Sky One at 8 pm every Friday.
