U18聯賽第二輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2014/08/ under-18s-report--arsenal-5-chelsea-1.html Sat, 23 Aug 2014 The youth team suffered their first defeat of the season at a blustery London Colney. An even first period saw the sides go in level at the break after Mukhtar Ali's deflected effort cancelled out Stephy Mavididi's headed opener. However, the hosts created the better chances after the restart and proved more clinical, restoring their lead after an hour through Mavididi's second goal of the game and then doubling that advantage six minutes later through substitute Harry Donovan. As the young Blues pushed forward looking for a route back into the contest they were punished on the break with two goals from another substitute, Tyrell Robinson. == Team news == There were three changes to the side that came from behind twice last week to secure a 4-3 home victory over Southampton, with schoolboys Josh Grant and Ike Ugbo coming into the side. Grant was joined in the back four by new scholars Jake Clarke-Salter and Jay Dasilva, along with George Brady, while Bradley Collins continued in goal. Tammy Abraham led the line up front alongside Ugbo, while the midfield diamond in behind the front pair consisted of Ruben Sammut, Isaac Christie-Davies, Ali and Kasey Palmer. == First half == The opening exchanges were even and tactical at an overcast London Colney as both sides sought to gain control of the match. Clarke-Salter cleared well from under his own crossbar after a dangerous delivery across the face of goal from Chris Willock, before Collins made a very good stop to deny striker Mavididi after an incisive ball forward split the two centre-backs. However, chances were largely restricted through the opening half hour as a midfield battle dictated a cagey start and the momentum swung both ways in short bursts. The home defenders made a couple of good clearances from dangerous Chelsea balls into the box and set-pieces, while Ben Sheaf fired wide from distance for the hosts. Much of the young Gunners' best play came down their left flank and it was from that area they created the opening goal. Full-back Marc Bola and Willock combined to fashion an opportunity and Mavididi had the simple task of nodding the ball into the back of the net beyond an exposed Collins. Joe Edwards' side had to defend strongly in the next five minutes as Arsenal were buoyed by their advantage, however the visitors rode the storm and soon found themselves in the ascendancy. Palmer brought a routine low save from Ryan Huddart in the Arsenal goal before their good spell was rewarded with the leveller as Ali's strike from 25 yards out flew past the goalkeeper courtesy of a large deflection off the defender. Collins then denied Kaylen Hinds with a crucial foot to the ball as the attacking midfielder looked to go round him, and Huddart kept out Abraham's header with an excellent reaction stop from close range as the opening period ended in a flurry of chances. == Second half == The second period resumed as the first had started, with opportunities few and far between. Palmer struck a half-volley wide from the edge of the penalty area after 57 minutes, and Sheaf fired a free kick straight into the Chelsea wall. Yet the home side were creating the better opportunities and soon found themselves back ahead through Mavididi once more. Josh Da Silva supplied the low delivery across the face of goal from the right and the forward made no mistake from close range for his second goal of the morning. Like in the first half, taking the lead put wind in the Arsenal sails and this time they were able to extend their advantage. Substitute Donovan had only been on the field for seven minutes before he got on the scoresheet, skipping past the challenge of Clarke-Salter and slamming the ball past the onrushing Collins to give his side a crucial two-goal cushion. As Chelsea pushed forward looking for a way back into the game, inevitably there were spaces left at the back and these were exploited by a confident Arsenal attack. Abraham shot wide from 25 yards before Robinson grabbed the Gunners' fourth, tapping the loose ball in from a couple of yards after Hinds' shot was parried by Collins. Robinson scored with a wonderful individual effort for Arsenal's late fifth, beating a few defenders down the right before slotting the ball inside the near post. Next up for Edwards' side is a trip to Leicester City next Saturday, 30 August, while the Under-21s resume their league campaign tomorrow (Sunday) as they take on Norwich City at Aldershot Town FC.
