The Spaniard has experience of playing against a Sarri-led side from his days in Serie A, and he also kept a close eye on Napoli's thrilling football in recent years. It is something he and his team-mates are in the formative days of trying to replicate under the new boss. 'So far, so good,' reported Alonso. 'I think he has a great style and we are just learning new things now to get used to it very quickly, and be ready for August 5 when we have the Community Shield against Manchester City. 'He likes to play football, he likes to press high, to try to have control of the ball and so control of the game. It could be more similar to the Spanish style, but he has some Italian aspects as well,' added Alonso. 'He likes to work with the defence a lot, the back-four line, lots of positioning work. I respect his previous work a lot, and now we have to trust in him and try to do our best and learn quickly.' Alonso expects the Blues to line up in a 4-3-3 shape and so for him that would mean reverting to left-back, what he calls his 'natural position' and one he had played all his life before joining Chelsea in 2016. He is anticipating the dawn of a new era for him personally, but also the team, with the first test under Sarri at the wonderful Optus Stadium a short distance from the team hotel in Perth. Kick-off on Monday is at 7.30pm local time, 12.30pm in the UK. 'It will be a very interesting game to see how Australian football is, how fit we are, and how we take the things on we have been working on. 'The quantity of fans we have here is amazing. I think there were 10,000 fans at the open training yesterday. It's amazing how they follow the Premier League and how they support Chelsea.
