再過一週，門迪就在切爾西待了整整一年了，可以肯定地說，從法國雷恩加盟藍
軍的門迪在2021年的表現和他所希望的差不多。

在蘭帕德執教期間，門迪成為了球隊的首發門將，並在圖赫爾的領導下一直保持
著這一地位。今年五月他贏得了歐冠冠軍，本週他獲得了2020/21年度歐足聯最佳門
將獎，在效力藍軍的50場比賽中有58%保持了零封。
門迪在切爾西的處子秀是盃賽中客場對陣托特納姆熱刺，明天他將回到熱刺的主
場，與他們進行第三場德比戰。賽前門迪一直在表示，他需要不斷證明自己，從而保
持自己第一門將位置，同時談到了在滿場的情況下進行比賽。
“當為切爾西這樣的俱樂部效力時，每個位置都會存在激烈的競爭，這是一場激
烈的爭奪。”
“我們也可以在曼城和利物浦看到這一點，兩名優秀的門將都準備好了。我必須
做到最好，也為球隊做到最好，當教練讓我上場時，必須證明為什麼他做出了這樣的
選擇。”
“每次都要拿出好的表現，就必須在訓練中互相督促。這是一場競爭，而凱帕、
我或者貝蒂內利，我們都想為切爾西做到最好。”
在切爾西的最初幾個月，有兩股力量幫助門迪充分出了發揮他的能力，一是他第
一次在英格蘭球迷中感受到的支持，二是主教練圖赫爾的激勵。
“去年我們沒有在球迷面前比賽，但現在我們很幸運，我們可以在滿場的環境中
比賽，而且斯坦福橋的氣氛很好，”門迪說。
“球迷太棒了，他們幫了我很多。當我在法國觀看比賽時，每次我都對自己說：
哇！英格蘭的氣氛，尤其是切爾西真是不可思議。”

“現在我很幸運，因為我能在這樣的氛圍下踢球，今年的英超、歐冠和盃賽，我
們都需要這樣的氛圍。”
“當主教練到來的時候，他帶來了他的足球哲學和活力，我們立刻就拿出了他想
要的表現。我認為主教練、教練團隊和球隊之間磨合得很好，他有自己想要的踢球方
式，我們有適合他的球員，雙方很好地融合在了一起。”

Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea allowed the opposition very few meaningful shots
on goal last season, but that has not been the case in the past two league
fixtures with Edouard Mendy a much busier goalkeeper than usual.

In fact, in our four domestic games this season the Senegalese has already
made 16 saves, a joint-high figure in the Premier League. In 16
appearances under Tuchel in the league last term he made 28 saves.
Of those 16 stops so far in 2021/22, 11 have been from shots taken inside
the box, in contrast to just 10 such saves under Tuchel last season.
So it's safe to say Mendy is being forced into more action than he and
Tuchel are accustomed to. He was outstanding against Liverpool and Aston
Villa, and has still only been beaten by a Mohamed Salah penalty in our
four league outings to date.
'I don't like it too much when he's in the spotlight,' acknowledged Tuchel
of his first-choice keeper.
'I like it more when he gets the praise from us for one-and-a-half saves,
for being concentrated, for pushing the line up high, and clearing some
situations as a sweeper. If he is more or less invisible to the spectators
in the stadium then I'm super happy. It means we did not allow many
chances.

Mendy was also superb in the Super Cup
'He's been in the spotlight the last games and on one hand that's not the
most satisfying feeling for a coach. On the other, it is because we can
rely on him. We have to accept things are not too easy at the moment. I
even like these tough matches and tough moments because it sharpens our
mentality.
'It's a good part of the season to struggle a little bit. It's better than
having everything in place and then suddenly in November or December not
knowing what's going on. Now we can progress and get better.'
Focusing more on Mendy's current status rather than the defensive
shortcomings that are giving him more action than usual, Tuchel needed no
second invitation to heap praise on our no.16, who is approaching the
first anniversary of his move to Chelsea.
'I'm super happy with him,' said Tuchel. 'He's an outstanding guy with a
fantastic personality, super humble, super calm. His development from the
first day has been outstanding. He plays with so much confidence. It's so
hard to score against him in training.

'Our goalkeeper coaches and the second and third goalkeepers did a
fantastic job, because only if they are a top team and push each other to
the limits can a number one perform like he performs. He is calm because
he feels safe in his environment. Every top team needs a top goalkeeper,
and we have one.'
