Chelsea learn Champions League last-16 opponents

Chelsea have been paired with Lille in the last-16 of the Champions
League, following Monday's draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Blues will face the French side over two legs next year, with the
first tie taking place at Stamford Bridge in February and the return leg
in northern France scheduled to take place in March.
Chelsea finished second in Group H behind Juventus. Lille, the current
Ligue 1 champions, made it through to the Champions League round of 16 by
topping a group that contained RB Salzburg, Sevilla and Wolfsburg. They
won three, drew two and lost one of their group games.
Chelsea and Lille have played two previous matches against each other,
both in the group stage of the 2019/20 season.
The Blues won both matches 2-1, with Tammy Abraham and Willian scoring in
the match in France and Abraham again opening the scoring at home. Cesar
Azpilicueta was also on target at Stamford Bridge.
In a change to the regulations from previous seasons, the away goals rule
has been scrapped and will no longer be in effect for two-legged knockout
ties in the Champions League.
That means if the aggregate scores are level after the usual 180 minutes
of the two legs, the tie will be decided in extra-time and, if necessary,
a penalty shoot-out, regardless of the number of goals each team scored at
home and away.

There were three errors made during the UCL draw:
‧ Man Utd placed in the same pot as Villarreal despite being in same group.
‧ Liverpool included in the pot of Atletico [also in same group].
‧ Man Utd absent from the pot with Atletico Madrid.
