Our young Blues were able to overcome the Red Devils in Saturday morning's early morning kick-off. The goalscorers today were Ronnie Stutter, Malik Mothersille and second-half substitue Silko Thomas. == Early blow == Chelsea enjoyed the early exchanges of this quarter-final with good interplay between the midfielders and the attackers. There were several early runs to the by-line and crosses that were being intercepted. For all the good play the first clear-cut chance fell to our opponents' Sonny Aljofree who had a header crash off the crossbar from a corner. https://i.imgur.com/nfmAqmk.jpg

Jude Soonsup-Bell making early running The Red Devils then hit the post through Alejandro Garnacho as he beat Brodie Hughes and then fired with his left foot. Our own Ronnie Stutter was then denied a goal by a well-timed block from Marc Jurado. The game was becoming end-to-end with both sides playing at a fast tempo. Poor passing out the back from our young Blues allowed Garnacho who had been threatening; he finished expertly to give his side the lead. == Missed opportunities == Our young Blues were able to create another opportunity through Jude Soonsup-Bell whose header was destined for the net, but Tom Wooster denied the young striker. Minutes later Soonsup-Bell had another opportunity but this time was denied by the post after a fantastic delivery from Malik Mothersille. Once again, we were left ruing another missed chance as Mothersille's snapshot from a corner just whistled over the bar. The second half started in the worst possible way as inside 18 seconds Prince Adegoke committed a foul on a United attacker which led to the referee awarding a penalty. Manni Norkett stepped up and converted from 12 yards out to double their lead. == Comeback kings == With another uphill task on our hands, we halved the deficit through Stutter who picked up the ball from in and around the area and with him being invited to take a shot he rifled an effort past Wooster and into the net. Soon after, we came close to equalising as Charlie Webster hit the post from a set-piece 20 yards out. With 15 minutes to go, Mothersille was played through on goal and his shot flew past Wooster into the net. Malik Mothersille striking the equaliser The recovery was complete two minutes after the second goal. Stutter positively carried the ball up the pitch and crossed the ball to Soonsup-Bell. His first time lay-off for the substitute Silko Thomas proved to be decisive as the winger composed himself and finished well, beating the keeper at his near post. https://i.imgur.com/dBcoCEI.jpg

Celebrating Silko Thomas's winner With the final whistle on the horizon we almost conceded with Omari Furson using terrific ball control to manoeuvre his way towards goal but his effort was dragged wide. That was all and our young Blues have made it through to the semi-final of the Premier League Cup, a competition we won in 2017/18.
