Tuchel addressed a mix of English and Spanish media in the West Stand at Stamford Bridge this afternoon to look forward to our first ever home game against the serial European Cup winners in front of supporters. During the press conference the boss underlined the vital role the Chelsea faithful have to play tomorrow, and he also addressed Real Madrid's current status on the continental stage. First though, Tuchel revealed how the group have responded to the Brentford setback. 'We had a day off which was necessary to digest it,' he said. 'We talked openly about it in a debrief, which is very usual for us. We set new targets, which is what you do no matter if you win or lose. 'We did not like what happened, but we consider this the exception of the rule. We were open to ourselves and allowed ourselves on Monday to focus on the match tomorrow. https://i.imgur.com/jWnYlL3.jpg
The players trained at Cobham this morning 'We need to be better on the pitch, we are the first to admit it, but we need the crowd to be better, we need everybody on the front foot,' added Tuchel. 'It's a big opponent in a big occasion. Normally we have these atmospheres in evening games and big matches throughout this season, our spectators have given us a huge push in terms of energy, and we need it. It's crucial in these games. Everybody needs to be on top level, and we need to be the first one to set the spark.' When asked how our 3-1 semi-final aggregate win last season would affect this upcoming tie, Tuchel insisted it would have nothing to do with it. 'I did not even look at it in preparation,' said Tuchel. 'That maybe answers the question. It's a new coach, a new team, with spectators. https://i.imgur.com/uhLExFP.jpg
We beat Real 2-0 last May but Tuchel says that won't have a bearing on tomorrow's game 'There is no point to prove again or whatever, we are out to prove a point anyway to bounce back from Saturday's performance. We want to play the right way, the way we want to play: physical, intense, focused.' No team has won the European Cup more times than Real Madrid, who have done so on a record 13 occasions. That includes a trio of consecutive successes between 2016 and 2018, and an earlier triumph in the decade under Carlo Ancelotti, whose presence at tomorrow's game is uncertain after he tested positive for Covid. Although most of the team who lifted those trophies have moved on, Tuchel was quick to dismiss a question suggesting Real Madrid are not the force they once were. 'It's normal cycles like this change at some point, but we should be aware teams with this kind of experience and quality can produce special performances on special nights,' stressed Tuchel. 'For us, it's also a pretty special occasion. That's why we also feel pretty excited. We don't lose too much sleep about where they are in Europe. We want to prove a point to ourselves again, that's the target. The occasion is special, the opponent is special, and that's why we are very excited.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2022/04/05/ tuchel-hopes-to-welcome-ancelotti-back-to-the-bridge Tuchel hopes to welcome Ancelotti back to the Bridge 05 Apr 2022 Thomas Tuchel is hoping that he will have Carlo Ancelotti next to him on the Stamford Bridge touchline for tomorrow's Champions League tie against Real Madrid. https://i.imgur.com/W6RvevL.jpg
Ancelotti is currently the Spanish side's manager, having previously spent two years as Chelsea head coach, which included guiding the Blues to our first-ever domestic Double by winning both the Premier League and FA Cup in 2009/10. However, the Italian's latest return to west London, for the first leg of our Champions League quarter-final, is currently in doubt after he tested positive for Covid-19 last week, subsequently missing Real's win over Celta Vigo at the weekend, when his son and assistant coach Davide took his place in the dugout. It is a situation Tuchel knows well, having missed our own FIFA Club World Cup semi-final in February due to Covid, before being able to join the team in Abu Dhabi the evening before the final following a negative test result, explaining it is not ideal even if modern technology means you are not completely cut off from your players. 'It does make a difference, but nowadays you have a lot of virtual help, so I'm pretty sure he can do the team talks and can be in touch with all his players and staff,' said Tuchel. 'But it's always better and much nicer to be there and have a direct influence. https://i.imgur.com/K7W4glg.jpg
Tuchel greets his staff and players after arriving in Abu Dhabi the evening before the Club World Cup final 'I think this is what we as coaches love the most, to be in the middle of the room and be part of the group so that we can constantly communicate, not only with words but also with how you feel, like with a smile. When all this is missing it's strange, you can feel something is missing.' Despite not travelling to London with his players today, Ancelotti is reportedly free from Covid symptoms and is still hoping he can provide a negative test result in time to travel from Madrid to London and make it to the Bridge for tomorrow night's game. Between his own experience in a similar situation and the healthy respect he holds for his opposite number, Tuchel is hoping that turns out to be the case so he can share the touchline with Ancelotti for this Champions League tie. 'I hope he still makes it,' added the German. 'I have the information that he will try to arrive tomorrow in the evening. I personally hope he makes it. https://i.imgur.com/h9Oh5K3.jpg
Ancelotti with the trophies he won with Chelsea 'He's a big coach, a big personality and it would be nice to have him on the sideline for this kind of game.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2022/04/06/ ancelotti-cleared-to-make-stamford-bridge-return Ancelotti cleared to make Stamford Bridge return 06 Apr 2022 Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been given the all-clear to travel to London after testing negative for Covid-19 and will be in the dugout for tonight's Champions League quarter-final tie. https://i.imgur.com/JGE1Vhy.jpg
The Italian spent two seasons as Chelsea boss over a decade ago and guided us to the Premier League and FA Cup Double in 2009/10, the only time in our history such a feat has been achieved. He has previously returned to SW6 twice as Everton manager, initially in March 2020 in our final game before the pandemic lockdown. Ancelotti's attendance in the dugout had been in doubt as he continually tested positive for coronavirus since last Wednesday and did not travel with his staff and players from Madrid yesterday, missing the customary pre-match press conference. However, a Real Madrid statement released on Wednesday morning stated: 'Real Madrid CF is pleased to announce that our coach Carlo Ancelotti has returned a negative result for Covid-19, and will therefore travel to London this morning to join up with the first team.' https://i.imgur.com/HdnbMgK.jpg
The two coaches have previously met when in charge of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in Germany Thomas Tuchel expressed his hope in the build-up to the game that his opposite number would be able to make the trip, claiming it would be a pleasure to share the touchline with a man who has won three Champions League titles as a manager. -- KTBFFH -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 1.174.167.157 (臺灣) ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/Chelsea/M.1649255263.A.8DA.html
