Sky News can reveal that the Blues have agreed a shirt-sleeve contract with WhaleFin, a digital asset platform owned by Singapore-based Amber Group. Chelsea is also said to be seeking a replacement for 3 UK, the mobile phone group, as its main shirt sponsor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/05/11/chelsea-announce-new-20m-a -year-cryptocurrency-sleeve-sponsor/ Chelsea to announce new £20m-a-year cryptocurrency sleeve sponsor By Matt Law, Football News Correspondent - 11 May 2022 ‧ 8:23pm Chelsea are set to announce a new £20million-a-year sleeve sponsor and are also considering replacing Three as the club's main shirt sponsor. Cryptocurrency group WhaleFin will replace Hyundai, who suspended their sponsorship deal after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government, on Chelsea's sleeves next season. The deal, which was agreed at the start of the year ahead of sanctions being imposed on Abramovich, is a considerable increase on the Hyundai deal that was worth £50m over four years. It is claimed that Hyundai is discussing an alternative commercial deal with the club, while the future of Three as the club's main shirt sponsor is also in doubt. Three were the first of Chelsea sponsors to suspend their agreement with the club after Abramovich was hit by sanctions, initially demanding that their logo be taken off the players' shirts and removed from the stadium. That proved to be impossible, but it has emerged that, with only one year remaining on the Three deal, Chelsea had already started the process of looking at potential alternative sponsors. Such a move would not be uncommon, given the size of the sponsorship Chelsea would be seeking and the fact that they must battle their Premier League rivals for the best deals. While the WhaleFin deal was agreed ahead of the takeover, any replacement for Three would have to be signed off by the incoming new ownership group fronted by Todd Boehly. It remains to be seen whether or not Three see out the final year of their deal next season, or whether an agreement can be found for a new sponsor to replace them immediately. Chelsea's new shirt sleeve sponsor, WhaleFin, is owned by Singapore-based Amber Group, who are reported to be in talks to raise new funds at a valuation of $10billion or more. -- Hoddle: 'Matthew will be sitting up there looking down now and loving Chelsea being winners.
