Chelsea have switched the west for east in the States as we now set up camp in Orlando, before playing Charlotte FC and Arsenal prior to our flight home this weekend. Despite high humidity levels in Florida taking their toll on training sessions, the boss has still heaped praise on a hard-working and thoroughly enjoyable group of players to coach. 'We are very happy. We have a very strong group who are hard-working, very nice group of players. They like to be with each other. They train intensely, and they are very ambitious. It is very nice to be around them,' says the boss. 'We've been together a long time now and there's still a whole week to go. It's a very nice group of players and characters, so we are very happy.' When pressed on how this added bond off the pitch may impact life on it, Tuchel cites added competitiveness and respect between players. 'For me it's very important. It's the foundation to push yourself. The level of respect, ambition, the level you can leave your ego in the dressing room or even in the hotel. Maybe you don't even have an ego!' Thomas jokes. The Blues head coach was speaking at a press conference to preview our second friendly of the USA tour against Charlotte FC tomorrow and inevitably there were questions about the future of our young Albanian striker, who has returned to Cobham for treatment after suffering an injury in training last week. Despite that setback, Tuchel believes that there is room in his squad for Broja this season and stated his intention to keep him at Stamford Bridge even though offers have been made to take him away. 'I don't expect him to leave,' Tuchel stated. Armando Broja walks out with Harvey Vale for training when they were in LA 'Right now when he arrived, it's clear he's trying to impress and is just trying to become a Chelsea player as soon as possible. After his loan at Southampton, the situation was very clear for him to make the next step, to show his improvement and make an impression in pre-season. 'Unfortunately he injured himself and of course there is a lot of noise going on because there are offers and interest in him. Let's see how this goes but I'm pretty calm about it because we know the situation and we have a contract.' The German also updated on the other three players who departed camp after the Las Vegas leg of our trip and revealed that further conversations about their plans for the season would happen when we return home. 'We know Tino Anjorin pretty well, we know Billy Gilmour pretty well, and Harvey Vale we know because he trained with us last season,' he continued. 'The decisions we took I didn't like them because all of the players deserved to stay here, but also the players who stayed deserved to stay here because they are doing fantastic in training. 'They are heavily involved and physically came totally fit. Tino Anjorin pictured training during the USA tour 'With Tino Anjorin, we struggled to find a role where he should play for us but I'm a big fan of him and Harvey the same. We had a talk with them and they know I didn't like to send them away but the group was simply too big to continue like this. 'We had the chance to keep them in America and let them train and play with the Under-23s [in Salt Lake City] so this was the decision and I promised that once we are back in London we will have this talk and see what's best for them.' Tuchel is keen to add reinforcements in certain areas of his squad and believes that the sooner these can be done, the better as integration into the group will be key. For new arrivals Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, the presence of familiar faces has already been important. 'I have a figure and I think we need a couple more players in to improve the squad,' he added. 'We were third last season and there was a gap between us, Manchester City and Liverpool. 'In general if you want to fight even for the same position you need to improve. You can never stand still because if you stand still then other teams will overtake you. 'It's always the dream of every manager that you find players in the same league and who can adapt maybe quicker than other players but it's also a very individual process. Of course we see that Raheem knows many players from the national team and he is very familiar with the habits of English clubs so this is very nice to see. 'For Kalidou, it's a big help that we have some French guys, that we have Edou [Mendy] his team-mate in the national team and of course Jorginho who is a big help from Napoli to make this process faster. The England international completed his signing from Manchester City last week prior to linking up with the Blues squad in Los Angeles and has been training with the group ever since. His physical condition is now at the stage where he can be involved in match action on the American east coast and Thomas Tuchel is looking forward to seeing his new attacking man on the field. Sterling will wear number 17 during pre-season. 'Raheem is absolutely ready to go,' confirmed Tuchel. 'He will be on the pitch against Charlotte and we are happy about that. He is excited to play his first match.' The Blues head coach has yet to decide on the rest of those to be involved in our latest FC Series outing, a game streamed live on the Chelsea website and 5th Stand app which will see the focus shift to incorporate more tactical elements compared to Saturday's victory over Club America in Las Vegas. 'In pre-season, it's always like this and the focus is on our team. We had an intense match against Club America and now we will focus on that match to improve when we are playing against Charlotte. 'The meeting with the team will be analysing and then we will focus a bit more on tactical issues because all the focus was on physical input versus Club America.' Sterling's fellow new arrival Kalidou Koulibaly is slightly further behind in his preparations for the new campaign so this game could come too soon for the Senegalese defender, according to Tuchel. 'We're a bit torn so I have to speak to him about what we do,' added Tuchel. Kalidou Koulibaly trains with the team in Orlando 'He trains with the team but there are players who are in the third week of preparation and on a completely different level of physical foundation so it's not a good match for him to straight away play. 'I don't want to rule it out completely but it's very likely that he maybe will not play and we will not see him on the pitch.' However, Tuchel is sure that once the 31-year-old's debut does come, we will see a calm and composed leader at the back. 'I'm happy because he's a calm guy and we can see his quality on the pitch,' added Tuchel.
