Finally on Monday at the Berto Center, the architect of this surprising turnaround, general manager John Paxson, stood up and toasted the players that made this all possible. “My intention this off-season is to bring everyone back,” Paxson said. That’s my goal. We’ll sit down with (chairman) Jerry (Reinsdorf) and other people after the season and we’ll go over kind of financially what that will mean. “But I think all of us agree that we need to continue this thing going. The continuity is going to be very important. I think our fans would like to see the majority of this team back as well.” Paxson’s goal isn’t much of a surprise, but this was the first time he expressed his feelings in such a direct manner. 主要說到Paxson明白的說出這個球季結束後的目標，就是盡可能讓所有球員留下來，他也說他認為球迷也是這樣期望的，而這是他第一次用這麼明確的態度表明心中的想法。 Keeping the current group intact would mean re-signing restricted free agents Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry, Chris Duhon, Jannero Pargo and Jared Reiner, plus unrestricted free agents Othella Harrington and Adrian Griffin. Guard Frank Williams, who played in only nine games this season, is another free agent, but he could probably find a better opportunity elsewhere. The Bulls have no draft picks this year and won’t have salary-cap room until 2006. The likely goal this summer will be to seek a taller, defensive-minded shooting guard. The Bulls are still paying Eddie Robinson, Mike Wilks, Scottie Pippen and Chris Jefferies. “He let me make decisions where we had to eat some money, but it helped our team win,” Paxson said. “A lot of times owners just won’t let you do that.” “Let’s face it, it’s been a terrific year in terms of what we’ve been able to accomplish. The playoffs will be exciting, it’s just too bad we won’t have Eddy and Luol (Deng) to experience that with us.
