Johnson Tribune staff reporter May 2, 2005 WASHINGTON -- No Luol Deng, no Eddy Curry and now, possibly, no Chris Duhon. At this rate, Lawrence Funderburke will be starting Game 5. Bulls trainer Fred Tedeschi is certainly earning his playoff share, with Duhon's back spasms the latest injury to land on his training table. Duhon played just nine first-half minutes Monday night before succumbing to back spasms that he originally experienced at the morning shootaround. His contribution consisted of one turnover. "I can't stand straight up," Duhon said afterward. "We were in walk-through [at the shootaround] and I tried to stand straight up and I felt it tighten up and my back has stayed that way all day. "I tried to go out there and see if I got in the flow if it would loosen up. But once I got subbed out and I had to sit down, it tightened back up." It also would rob them of a third starter at a time when slow starts are troubling the Bulls. Washington jumped to a 17-4 lead in Game 2 before the Bulls rallied for a victory. Monday, the Wizards buried the Bulls in a 17-3 avalanche. "We don't want to start games like this," coach Scott Skiles said. "But we're a little late in the game right now to have a magic pill for that. If [Duhon is] hurt, obviously we'll change the lineup. But I'm not going to change it just to change it. The guys have to play. We left the page when the ball went up. Our defensive assignments were blown. We looked panicky." If Duhon is unable to play Wednesday, look for Skiles to start either Adrian Griffin or Eric Piatkowski and for Jannero Pargo to see more playing time.
