Paxson meets with Curry's agent

Bulls operations chief John Paxson engaged in preliminary contract talks
Tuesday with Eddy Curry's agent, Leon Rose, who was in town to visit his
client.
''We had a good discussion,'' Paxson said. ''Again, we're just in the
beginning stages of this thing. You look at how long this thing with Tyson
[Chandler] has gone on, and Leon and I have just started on Eddy. There are a
lot of issues to work through with Eddy.''
Not the least of which is how much guaranteed money is tied to the health
of Curry, whose 2004-05 season was cut short because of heart problems. The
NBA's insurance carrier declined to cover Curry's condition, and Rose and the
Bulls have been trying to find another avenue to insure him.
Ultimately, there might not be an insurance company willing to offer such
a policy. Or the premium might be very costly.
''That's going to be an issue in terms of who assumes the risk of the deal,
'' Paxson said. ''That is something we talked about.''
Rose didn't return a telephone message seeking comment.
The Bulls appear to hold most of the leverage in negotiations with Curry and
Chandler because neither has received an offer sheet from another team. The
Bulls would have the right to match any offer because Curry and Chandler are
restricted free agents.
''The whole leverage thing, it's a difficult thing to gauge,'' Paxson said
. ''I try not to even look at it like we have leverage because I want Tyson
to be back here. That's truly been the thing that I've been thinking about.
''
Paxson also would like to re-sign Curry, but likely to a one-year,
incentive-laden deal that also features health-related safeguards.
As for contract negotiations with Chandler, Paxson wouldn't confirm
specifics. He did say, however, that the gap between him and agent Jeffrey
Schwartz was not as large as a reported $12 million.
''We're closer than that,'' Paxson said. ''I've tried to look at this all
along and say, 'We obviously value Tyson.' We acknowledge a lot of things out
there and that because of his size and athletic ability he's a valuable player
. So I've approached the negotiations that way.''
It is thought that the Bulls' current offer to Chandler is similar to the
six-year, $64 million deal the Philadelphia 76ers recently agreed to with
center Samuel Dalembert.
''We've never tried to lowball him,'' Paxson said. '''We're trying to get
a deal done, and Jeff is, too.
''Usually, when both sides want to get a deal done, you get a deal done.
You do debate things, but I think both of us are looking to get something done
. I do think that ultimately we will. I just don't have a timetable on it.''
There's plenty of time left before the Oct. 1 deadline. If no deal is
reached by then, both players will sign one-year qualifying offers and become
unrestricted free agents next summer.

Paxson also would like to re-sign Curry, but likely to a one-year,
incentive-laden deal that also features health-related safeguards.
至於Chandler的部分:
Chandler的經紀人否定了昨天報導中1年12M的六年合約說法,
而Paxson始終展現續約的最大誠意,包括Curry和Chandler
而還有足夠的時間(在10月1 號前)都還可以持續討論有關續約的問題,
如果在此沒達成協議,
則兩人將接受Qualifying offer,
然後明年成為UFA

大概意思應該是這樣..
有錯再請幫忙指正囉^^"
最怕看這種似是而非的新聞..@@
