4. Chicago (from Portland): Tyrus Thomas, PF, LSU
The Bulls picked up Thomas and Viktor Khryapa from the Blazers for No. 2 pick
LaMarcus Aldridge and a future second-round selection. Bad move, Bulls.
Aldridge is more refined in the post, and that's what they absolutely needed
with all the shooters they have on board. Thomas is more of a small forward
than a power forward. Don't they already have a few of those with Luol Deng and
Andres Nocioni in place? What's Khryapa going to bring. Don't like this at all.

13. Chicago (from Philadelphia): Thabo Sefalosha, SF, Angelico Biella (Italy)
I don't know Mr. Sefolosha from the stranger next door, but did the Bulls,
who traded up for this pick (swapping the No. 16 pick, a 2007 second-round
pick and cash), really believe he wouldn't be there for them at No. 16? Once,
Peja Stojakovic was drafted when I was younger and I laughed at the scrawny
kid walking up to the podium. I was a fool. Maybe this will be a similar
situation, but Thabo has to prove it first.

With two picks the Bulls envisioned becoming part of next year's rotation
I believe they could've done a lot better. Trading LaMarcus Aldridge for
Tyrus Thomas was the wrong move; Thomas is more raw offensively and needs work
the way Tyson Chandler needs work. At least Thomas has more to work with. As
for Thabo Sefolosha, trading up for his services seemed excessive, especially
since it's hard to imagine him getting into much action next season. I now
believe the Bulls have to trade for a superstar (Kevin Garnett?) if they're
to get back to an elite level.

Thomas has an attitude that will get in the face of LeBron James and swat
some shots. I think that’s why the Bulls got him; to combat James as he
comes to the hoop. Thomas can move and he has some nasty. Thabo Sefolosha is
a 6-6 guard who can also deal with James and Washington’s Gilbert Arenas.

Picks : LaMarcus Aldridge (2), traded to the Trail Blazers; Rodney Carney(16)
,traded the to 76ers; acquired Tyrus Thomas (4), Thabo Sefolosha (13)
and Viktor Khryapa in separate trades.
GM John Paxson got perhaps the draft's best prospect in Thomas while adding
the big defensive guard he needed in Sefolosha and another decent prospect in
Khryapa. Though Thomas doesn't solve Chicago's desperate need for a low-post
scorer, it's doubtful Aldridge would have done so right away either. Meanwhile
, Thomas also gives Paxson a blue-chip piece for a future blockbuster trade
(maybe Kevin Garnett?).

The Bulls sought to get more athletic and better defensively and quite
frankly, they couldn't have done better than what they did. And they still
have salary cap space to make a move in free agency if they are so inclined.
Thomas is the most gifted athlete in the draft, will block shots and run the
floor while playing dogged defense for coach Scott Skiles. The long and lean
Sefolosha carries the weight of knowing he was considered the best perimeter
defender in the draft. Yeah, this was a great one with better things to come.

The Bulls were able to squeeze a second rounder and some cash out of
Portland in order to coerce them into trading up to the two-spot to select
LaMarcus Aldridge. Thomas very clearly was who they wanted all along and he
gives the Bulls the athleticism and high energy that they currently lack.
That said, Thomas projects himself as a small forward and with Deng and
Nocioni in the mix, he can be considered a project for the team, but inevitably
will be a power forward in the NBA.
Sefolosha is a player who seemed to move upwards in every mock draft leading
up to today and Chicago even traded up to make sure that they got him. He will
likely play for the Bulls next season and appears to be a legitimate talent
if the Bulls were worried that he would not be around for the 16th selection.

The Bulls got the guy they wanted in Tyrus Thomas, but they duped Portland
into swapping the second and fourth picks and adding a second-round pick and
Victor Khryapa to the deal. Then they moved up to get the big guard they
needed, Swiss star Thabo Sefalosha. John Paxson did exactly what he wanted and
dramatically improved his club. Thomas could become a dominant, versatile
defender, and Sefalosha gives Chicago the big defender they'll need in the
East to deal with LeBron James for the next 10 years. Overall, it was a
terrific draft for the up-and-coming Bulls.

The Bulls addressed their needs well adding three strong defensive players
to the mix. They got the player they had targeted all along in hybrid forward
T2, who has a legit chance to be the best player from this year's draft class
. They added another small forward to their stable in Russian prospect Victor
Khryapa, who is strong defensively. And they also added a defensive minded
2-guard in Switzerland's Thabo Sefolosha who fits right into Skiles style of
play. The deal sending Eddy Curry and the right to sign him to a fat contract
to New York is working out to perfection. Chicago moving up 3 spots to grab
the player Utah was targeting at 14 (Sefolosha) was masterful as well.
