They’ve drafted two new guys, signed two new guys, and switched a few players in and out via trades. Knowing what we know about Chicago’s new boys, now is as fair a time as any to rate Paxson’s summer moves and discuss what to expect out of these new additions. The Bulls nabbed the prize of free agency this summer, adding the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and a guy who will fit the Paxson-Skiles system perfectly, but 2.) In a modern NBA world where players are often given better financial opportunities by sticking with their incumbent teams, it’s extremely hard to pry guys away. How, exactly, is that a bad move? Worst-case scenario, the Bulls can trade an aging superstar’s $15 million contract in the final year for something more valuable. This particular gamble seems like it would be worth it. Tyrus Thoms，2006年的第四順位 Who many at first thought would be the next Shawn Marion is now drawing closer comparisons to pre-bum-knee Antonio McDyess. In five games at the Orlando summer league, Thomas averaged a little over 16 points and 7 rebounds per game. He’s going to be an effective post defensive presence, and he’ll be able to knock down his little mid-range jumper, but he probably won’t be in immediate contention for Rookie of the Year honors. He makes the team more athletic, but he’s not as polished offensively as the Bulls probably would like, and he’s still extremely raw and young. 一開始許多人認為他是是下一個Shawn Marion，但他現在看起來更適合跟膝蓋沒廢掉前的 Antonio McDyess比較。在奧蘭多夏季聯盟打了五場，Thomas平均16點多分,7籃板。他將會成為一個有效的禁區防守球員，而且他也有一點中距離的能力，但他可能沒辦法馬上爭奪最佳新人。他會讓公牛更有運動力，但他的進攻能力可能不如公牛所預期的銳利，而且他還十分的青澀。 There may be rumblings all year long that Pax should’ve just went ahead and drafted Brandon Roy, who will certainly be a R.O.Y. candidate (Roy for R.O.Y.? Fitting.) and would have filled some pressing needs for the Bulls. Still, Thomashas the chance to be a star, even if it does take a little while to come to fruition. Grade = B+ 接下來的一整年應該都會有不少的聲浪認為Paxson應該選Brandon Roy，一個無疑是最佳新秀的候選人(Roy 爭Rookie Of the Year?很合適)，而且Roy應該更符合公牛的需求。仍然，Thomas絕對有機會成為一個明星球員，即使這看起來需要一點時間來開花結果。評價：B+ Thabo Sefolosha, taken with the 13th overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft. Thabo Sefolosha，2006年選秀第13順位 Word out of Orlando is that Thabo is doing exactly what Paxson hoped he would. Aside from measuring in at 6’7” instead of the pre-draft listing of 6’5”, he’s defended the ball extremely well in his two summer league games, and he’s been playing the point guard position with headiness and grace. That means good things for Ben Gordon, who won’t have to worry about running the point when Duhon and Hinrich are out of the game; he can just shoot. Thabo was selected to fill very specific needs, and despite some early hip flexor issues, it looks like he’s doing just that. Besides, what else are you going to get that low in the lottery? (Well, some Bulls fans still would’ve preferred Rodney Carney, but we’ll let time decide who was the better investment).
