Keeping that in mind, remember that this team plays its best basketball when Rose is allowed to play to his strengths. Allow him ample opportunities for isolation plays so he can get into the lane and create. This roster has been built for pick-and-pop since Skiles was coaching the team, so that's still your bread-and-butter. He's done a lot of weight-lifting in the last year, but get him on a strength-building program to make sure he's not getting pushed around by the bigger fives in the league. If he's going to be this team's center, he's got to bulk up so he can stay out of foul trouble. For some reason, he did quite a bit less of both those things last year in favor of attacking the basket and trying to create more of his own offense. Let Derrick create, and find ways to get him that wide open shot in the corner. The last couple of years have been rife with all kinds of big ideas that were started but rarely finished. Part of the reason we hired you was because you've got a defined philosophy. Make that clear to the players very early on, and follow through. They don't necessarily have to love you, but they need to feel confident that you know what you're doing. If you can do that, they'll respect you. Your four best players are great listeners, hard workers, and likeable personalities. Even without LeBron James, you've got a middle-of-the-road Eastern Conference playoff team here. We're going to do all we can to get you some help this summer, but don't be afraid to work these kids hard. You don't have to baby them or consider them typical big-headed pros. Put your stamp on the team, do everything you can to get the most of out of them, and have fun.
