Melo
AT THE HORN: LA Clippers vs. Bulls (12/18/10)
Final Score: Clippers 100 Bulls 99
Tom Thibodeau should be pointing that finger back at himself.
(The Bulls are NOT a 48 minute team!!!)
AFTER THOUGHTS:
I'm not going to blame Derrick Rose (34 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds on
12/24 FG shooting) for this BAD LOSS versus the woeful Los Angeles Clippers,
who came into the United Center with an underwelming 6-21 record, but instead
I'm going to put it all on Tom Thibodeau, whose job it is to properly
motivate and prepare his team to compete for 48 minutes, night in and night
out. That's not happening. Time after time, after time, after time, after
time, after time, after time, after time, after time, after time, after time,
after time, after time, after time, after time, after time he has let his
team take entire quarters off. That's 15 "after times" for those of you who
are counting. I did that on purpose, because a very bad trend has developed
within this Bulls' team. It's a disturbing one that needs to stop
immediately. And when I say trend, I mean trend. Let's take a deeper look
at what I'm mean.
THE TREND: "TAKING QUARTERS OFF":
公牛的一節爆
@ OKC...the Bulls were outscored 24-13 in the 4th.
vs. DET...the Bulls were outscored 39-23 in the 2nd.
vs. NYK...the Bulls were outscored 36-22 in the 2nd.
@ BOS...the Bulls were outscored 30-15 in the 2nd.
vs. DEN...the Bulls were outscored 27-18 in the 3rd.
@ HOU...the Bulls were outscored 30-14 in the 3rd.
@ SAS...the Bulls were outscored 37-12 in the 3rd.
@ PHX...the Bulls were outscored 36-17 in the 1st.
vs. ORL...the Bulls were outscored 33-15 in the 2nd.
@ BOS...the Bulls were outscored 31-19 in the 1st.
vs. HOU...the Bulls were outscored 35-25 in the 3rd.
@ CLE...the Bulls were outscored 33-19 in the 3rd.
vs. LAL...the Bulls were outscored 22-12 in the 1st.
@ TOR...the Bulls were outscored 29-19 in the 4th.
vs. LAC...the Bulls were outscored 33-22 in the 2nd.
That speaks for itself, right there. It's an ugly trend.
Last night, the Bulls outscored the Clippers in the 1st quarter, the 3rd
quarter and the 4th quarter, but managed to lose the game because they
weren't motivated or prepared to play hard for 48 minutes. Granted, Derrick
Rose missed a game-tying FT at the end of regulation, but at the end of the
day, it NEVER should have come down to that. This team isn't talented enough
to take entire quarters off, yet alone get outscored constantly by
double-figures in a 12 minute span. It just isn't. Their SG play and
production is simply atrocious. The Bulls' core of SG's, which consists of
Keith Bogans (0 points), Kyle Korver (3 points) and Ronnie Brewer (6 points)
combined for only 9 points. Like I said, the Bulls SG play and production is
simply atrocious. And it's not like an under-sized C.J. Watson (5 points)
would do any better either.
Loyalty isn't always a good thing. It can be a curse.
For the life of me, I can't see why Tom Thibodeau continues to be this loyal
to Keith Bogans, who has been down-right awful this season as the Bulls'
starting SG. Maybe if John Paxson and/or Gar Forman would have had some
foresight to acquire Nick Young in the Kirk Hinrich trade, the Bulls would
have a more balanced team? And why are John Lucas III and James Johnson (aka
"The DNP boys") still on this basketball team? Any smart Bulls' fan can see
that the Bulls could use a Shooting Guard, who can actually score, more so
than two guys who never get into the game. I certainly hope a trade or
free-agent signing is coming, sooner than later. I know Kyle Weaver (18.9
ppg, 6.0 rpg and 3.7 apg), who was waived by the Bulls in the preseason, is
playing pretty solid basketball for the Bulls' D-League affiliate, the Iowa
Energy. I'm not a G.M. or a V.P. of Basketball Operations, but he looks like
the better option.
It's time for the Bulls' management to be pro-active.
Joakim Noah (14.0 ppg and 11.7 rpg) is out for the long-term and Taj Gibson
(3 points and 2 rebounds in only 9 mins. of action) could be out for the
short-term, after receiving a concussion in last night's game. I know the
various reports had the Bulls' management looking at Courtney Sims (19.5 ppg
and 8.8 rpg), who just like Kyle Weaver, is playing some pretty good
basketball for the Bulls' D-League affiliate, the Iowa Energy. Now, I don't
care if the Bulls' management demotes, cuts loose or trades James Johnson
and/or John Lucas III, but quite frankly, they need to create added roster
spots for a new Shooting Guard and an extra Power Forward/Center. It's
either that or enter the championship discussion by acquiring Carmelo Anthony
in a blockbuster trade. He seems to be the guy that 99% of Bulls' fans,
including myself, want on this team. Right now, this Bulls' team is Central
Division contenders and NBA championship pretenders. They have too many
holes to fill. The Bulls' management needs be more pro-active and fill those
holes.
Put this loss behind you and go to work.
Get ready for Philly.
Go Bulls!!!
