Malcolm Thomas Sets Summer League Single-Game Rebound Record http://ppt.cc/-h9G Chicago Bulls forward Malcolm Thomas set a Summer League record on Monday night, grabbing 22 rebounds during a 93-81 win over the Denver Nuggets. Thomas broke the record previously held by former Toronto Raptors forward Joey Dorsey, who pulled down 20 rebounds during a game back in 2009. With his 22 boards, Thomas had more than Denver's three top rebounders, as Jordan Hamilton, Luke Harangody and Quincy Miller were able to pull down 20 all together. In fact, Thomas was only 10 away from the Nuggets' total as a team. Of the 22, 10 of Thomas' rebounds were offensive. Plus, he added 13 points and two blocks to help the Bulls to their win. He and Andrew Goudelock, who scored 31 points and made five of his six three-pointers, both showed off reasons to be considered for more than just a Summer League stint with the Bulls. Thomas follows up Andre Drummond's stellar rebounding game earlier this month. Drummond set an Orlando Summer League record on July 11 with 18 during a 78-77 Detroit Pistons win over the Miami Heat. After bouncing around the league for two years, Thomas is entering his third season in the NBA. In his first two years, playing sparingly with the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and the Bulls, Thomas has collected just 19 rebounds and 16 points. While he has played in limited time, there have been flashes of solid play when he does get on the floor. His best performance to date is a six-point, eight-rebound game in a loss to the Toronto Raptors as the injury-riddled Bulls limped into the playoffs. Thomas has also displayed a knack for rebounding while in the D-League as well, averaging 9.6 boards in 27 career games. He had two one-game stints in the D-League during the 2013 season in which he made it painfully obvious that he was overqualified. After a 15-rebound game for the Santa Cruz Warriors and another 17 with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Bulls decided to pick him up off the scrap heap. From there he signed a few 10-day contracts before landing a two-year deal with the Bulls.
