Sep 18 It looks like Soto could see an increase in playing time as the season winds down, the Chicago Tribune reports. Recommendation: The scorching rookie has hit 10-for-18 (.556) in his last five starts and has also been able to gun down two runners in seven stolen base attempts. Starter Jason Kendall, on the other hand, has sputtered to .190 batting average in September and has only thrown out two runners in 50 attempts. Asked Monday if he'd consider playing Soto more down the stretch, manager Lou Piniella paused for several seconds before saying: "Let's see what the next few days bring. We're playing teams that score a few more runs, so we've got to score a few runs ourselves. I wish I had a definite answer for you, but I don't."
