[情報] Cubs fire 6 scouts
ILWAUKEE -- The Chicago Cubs continued with their midseason housecleaning as
they announced the firing six scouts Wednesday, including four on the
professional scouting side.
The pro scouts terminated were Tom Bourque, Joe Housey, Tom Shafer and Richie
Zisk, a two-time American League All-Star outfielder. The Cubs listed 16
scouts on the pro side when the season began.
On the amateur scouting side, regional crosschecker Charlie Aliano was
released of his duties, as was area scout Rick Schroeder, who was responsible
for seven states, all of them in the Midwest. The Cubs had 26 amateur scouts
listed at the beginning of the season.
The pro scout positions are expected to be filled, according to a source. It
isn’t certain if the Cubs will just eliminate the positions on the amateur
side or fill those spots as well.
The latest housecleaning comes a week after vice president of player
personnel Oneri Fleita was dismissed. The Cubs also fired manager of baseball
information Chuck Wasserstrom that day, and moved statistical analyst Ari
Kaplan from full-time employee to a consultant role.
There have been a number of moves made by new president of baseball
operations Theo Epstein since he took over this winter. His higher-profile
changes were to fire manager Mike Quade during the offseason, while the club
also fired hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo in June.
