DETROIT -- The Tigers on Monday unveiled plans for the first phase for this sum mer's All-Star Week with schedules, ticket information and volunteer opportunit ies for John Hancock All-Star FanFest, scheduled for July 8-12 at Cobo Center. FanFest will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET each day except for July 12, when it wraps up at 7 p.m. ahead of the start of the All-Star Game. Tickets for John Hancock All-Star FanFest go on sale next Tuesday, Feb. 1 and w ill be available online at detroittigers.com and MLB.com. Tickets cost $16 for adults and $11 for senior citizens, military personnel and children ages 3-12. Children ages two and under are admitted free. All attractions are included in the admission price. The 15th annual event, held in the days ahead of each All-Star Game in the host city, includes more than 50 attractions covering more than 300,000 square feet , including a simulated baseball diamond where instructors teach their expertis e, video batting cages, a cyber-ballpark with video batting cages, a virtual ho me run derby, artifacts from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, bas eball cards and the world's largest baseball, as well as many other interactive experiences. But they need local performers and volunteers to make the largest interactive baseball fan event happen, which makes this a unique opportunity f or fans and interested parties around Detroit to get involved in All-Star activ ities. Performing artists -- including actors, musicians and "specialty acts" -- will have a chance to try out for a spot in the festivities later this year with a t alent audition. Those interested in volunteering will be able to log onto detro ittigers.com and complete a volunteer form. Those who aren't interested in volunteering can still contribute as fans. In ad dition to being available online on Feb. 1, tickets for John Hancock All-Star F anFest can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at (248) 645-6 666. The Comerica Park box office will also have tickets starting March 1. Major League Baseball will honor the Tigers' group discount policy of $2 off ea ch FanFest ticket in groups of 25 or more.
