Vasquez, a 16-year-old from Valencia, has a projectable 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame with broad shoulders and an advanced lefthanded bat. Tigers international scouting director Tom Moore declined to comment on the signing bonus, but international sources outside of the organization in recent days have said the bonus was expected to be around $1 million. "The frame is there, there's a lot of growth potential and that’s really one of the things that interested us a lot about him," Moore said. "The way he’s able to handle the bat, he's premium bat-type guy. He already has power, but knowing that if he’s able to gain some strength in that frame, he’s really going to develop some more power. For us, he was one of the most advanced bats in the market that we saw this year." Vasquez has been on the Tigers' radar for two years, with the club's area scouts following him while tracking Vasquez's youth league teammates from previous signing classes. "We've seen him use the whole field, not just in tryouts but in games as well," Moore said. "He's not just a guy who can put it to left field but hit it to left field with authority. Right now it's line-drive power. He does have ability to generate some loft in the ball, but right now it's more consistent line-drive power. With more strength, those balls in the gap are going to be going over the fence." Vasquez has played center field, though he doesn't have the speed to stay there in pro ball. Moore said Vasquez, a righthanded thrower, has a loose arm and should be able to play right field. "He's going to be a corner outfielder who's going to be able to throw and cover ground in right field," Moore said. "We were also impressed with his game-playing instincts, in the field and as a baserunner, too." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 這消息的重點在於: 老虎竟然花了1m簽下國際球員!!!??? 關心老虎這幾年來國際市場是被近幾放棄的一塊球團寧願花小錢多賭幾隻中等資質也不願像first year draft那樣花大錢也不能說球團摳畢竟國際球員風險總是高一點還有年紀跟身分的問題... 這兩年來風格是有慢慢改變包括邁向亞洲市場簽了3位台灣球員簽了些資質好一些的拉丁球員 (都還離big太遠就不列舉) 花1m簽下one of the top hitters on the international market. 雖不是最頂級破2M的那種但這絕對是一大突破~~ (也許是要把今年選秀省下的錢再花掉XDD) 我不會把過多的期待放在這位才要16歲的小朋友身上 it's a good sign 期待哪天我們也能從自己農場長出胖卡布 King Flex 這種大物 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.44.114.120
