GM Dave Dombrowski: Tigers need to solidify middle of lineup;
six minor league contracts purchased.
DETROIT --
Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski’s focus this
offseason will be the oft-mentioned need to obtain a batter
capable of 100 RBIs in a season.
Outfielder-designated hitter Adam Dunn and catcher Victor Martinez are two
big hitters Detroit has interest in signing as free agents, but neither
Dombrowski nor Tigers manager Jim Leyland would comment on them specifically.

pitcher Charlie Furbush and shortstop Cale Iorg from Triple-A Toledo and
