Cabrera exits All-Star Game with injury By Jason Beck / MLB.com | 07/12/11 11:00 PM ET PHOENIX -- Miguel Cabrera's sixth All-Star Game appearance was a brief one, and not nearly so sweet. The Tigers first baseman and dangerous slugger left Tuesday's game after two innings with a strained left side. There was no immediate word on the seriousness of the injury. By all appearances, there was no particular play on which Cabrera appeared injured, so it could be precautionary. Still, Twins All-Star Michael Cuddyer replaced him at first base for the bottom of the seventh inning. Cabrera had entered the game for the bottom of the fifth inning as a defensive replacement for starter Adrian Gonzalez. He grounded out to second base in his lone at-bat, ending the sixth inning against former Tiger Jair Jurrjens. Any injury to Cabrera is obviously a serious concern to the Tigers, who enter the season's second half with a half-game lead over Cleveland in the American League Central. He took a .980 OPS, 18 home runs and 59 RBIs into the All-Star break, all tops on the Tigers. His .311 batting average ranked second to Jhonny Peralta.
