There's a reason the Detroit Tigers and their fans weren't overly shaken by
shortstop Jhonny Peralta getting suspended for 50 games last week by Major
League Baseball. Because the Tigers went out and acquired rookie shortstop
Jose Iglesias from the Boston Red Sox a week prior.

Iglesias, 23, was already a Rookie of the Year contender in the American
League — hitting .324 and bringing stellar defense. He's been called a
"defensive wizard" and drawn comparisons to the great Omar Vizquel.
That might sound like premature hype for the youngster if he weren't doing
stuff like what you see above, from Monday's game against the Chicago White
Sox. An all-in-one-motion, bare-handed, catch-and-toss while tumbling toward
the ground ... what a thing of beauty and a defiance to physics.

While you can freely debate whether anybody should be allowed to wear
Whitaker's jersey number in Detroit, there's no debating that in this
instance Iglesias looks pretty sweet.
