FAMILY SONGO'O WILL RETURN TO LA CORUNA NEXT YEAR
Cameroon goalkeeper Jacques Songo'o played at Deportivo from 1996 until 2001,
when he signed on a free transfer for French club FC Metz. Songo'o will turn
40-years old next season, but just got promoted with his current club to the
highest French season. Earlier this week he spent some time in La Coruna and
spoke to La Voz de Galicia, about his present situation, his future and his
family.
Q: Will you stay at Metz next season?
A: I don't think so, because my contract has expired and my agent is listening
to offers. My wish is to return to Spain, because I like the Liga much more
than the French competition. In Spain there's much more intensity surrounding
football and it's more competitive.
Q: So you want to return to the Primera Division?
A: Man, that would be great! But I also am prepared to play in the Segunda
Division if a team has chances to achieve promotion. Above all I want to return
to Spain.
Q: And what does your family say?
A: They also want to return to Spain. Even better, my wife and my youngest son
Jann will return to La Coruna next year, independent of what I will be doing at
that time.
Q: It seems that the city has impressed you.
A: What do you think? I have spent five incredible years here and the people
are great. I like the atmosphere that goes around here.
Q: Haven't you thought about moving to Barcelona as your son Frank plays in thei
r youth team?
A: No, as one cannot compare Barcelona to La Coruna. My son is playing football
there and is studying also. But we prefer to live in La Coruna.
Q: How is Frank doing?
A: Excellent. On Tuesday he received the message that he will play another
tournament with the French sub-16 team. He already has played eight matches for
the French national team and everything goes well. But let's see, as in
football one never knows.
Q: If you continue playing football, one day you could play against each other.
A: This makes me laugh! But that would be a dream coming true. It would be
great to play a match against him, even if it's a friendly. That would be the
ultimate target for me.
Q: And what if he gets to take a penalty against you?
A: (laughing) On the pitch family relations do not exist! No serious, I would
treat him like every other player and will try to stop the penalty.
Q: What are you advising him?
A: When we are together we hardly speak about football. But the first advice of
me is to finish study. At 16-years old many boys dream of becoming a
professional player, but not all of them make it. The most important thing is
to have a good education. And if he becomes a player in the end that would be
welcomed.

沒想到我還能看到他要回來的消息，而且還發現他是那麼一為有趣的球員
